Bergslagernas Spelmansgille

Take the opportunity to swing around in Swedish traditional dance to tunes from our beloved Bergslagen region!

Bergslagen's Spelmansgille has roots dating back a hundred years when the national fiddler on clarinet, Carl-Erik Hartman (1870-1972), gathered musicians from various parts of Bergslagen for a fiddlers' guild with this name.

In 1999, the guild was revived on the initiative of Carl-Erik's son, the musician Stig Hartman (1913-2007) from Kopparberg. Since then, the guild has met to play together and learn the fine old Bergslagen tunes that are so dear to our hearts. A collective musical endeavor that has resulted in many concerts and performances over the years. The repertoire also includes several songs newly composed by the guild's own members.
